The EU RoHS (European Union Directive on Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances) Directive calls for the elimination of hazardous substance that may occur in electrical and electronic equipment. It aims to reduce health and environmental risks by promoting environmentally sound manufacturing procedures, proper treatment of waste and a reduction in hazardous substances.
The EU RoHS Directive restricts the use of six substances; lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
