TÜV SÜD assists local Thai hotels enhance customer satisfaction, identify potential savings and reduce carbon footprint

Bangkok - Thailand’s tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) industries have consistently been two major profitable contributors to the country’s economy. To move ahead of competition, customer service quality, food and beverage (F&B) quality and sustainable resource savings are critical key success factors for local and international hotels in Thailand. With its full suite of testing, certification, inspection, auditing, training and consultancy services tailored for the hospitality sector, TÜV SÜD’s experts can help local Thai hotels deliver world-class service while identifying potential savings and become more environmentally-friendly establishments.

“A significant percentage of a hotel’s revenue comes from its F&B services and establishments. As such the safety and hygiene maintenance of hotel kitchens are vital; strict and meticulous procedures are needed to ensure the freshest, safest and highest quality of food and beverage are being served to customers,” said Mr. Chong Kok Yoong, Vice President, Industry-Food, TÜV SÜD PSB. “We have customized comprehensive, proactive food microbial monitoring and kitchen hygiene programs for several hotels in Thailand including JW Marriott Bangkok Hotel. The programs are tailored to their unique business needs.”

Chef Michael Hogan, JW Marriott Bangkok Hotel added, “Not only does TÜV SÜD PSB’s food microbial monitoring and kitchen hygiene audit program help us achieve the highest level of food and beverage quality, we are also able to minimize risks of regulatory violations. This 3rd-party verification boosted our customers’ confidence in our service and helped us declare to customers our commitment to food hygiene. TÜV SÜD PSB came to our kitchens, monitored the hygiene levels of our food preparation areas and kitchen utensils while evaluating the hygiene practices of our staff. We were also advised on high-risk food items, abnormal bacterial levels, correct handling and storage practices.”

Other than hotel microbial monitoring and kitchen hygiene programs, TÜV SÜD also offers carbon-free certification for hotels to local Thai and international hotels. There is growing awareness and demand in the market for green, environment-friendly hotels; and carbon footprint serves as the best monitoring tool to assess green initiatives taken by the hotel. TÜV SÜD can help Thai hotels validate and verify the carbon footprints of their activities and services based on TÜV SÜD’s “Verification Protocol” which follow international standards to audit greenhouse gases emissions.

Mr. Sean Boey, General Manager, TÜV SÜD PSB Thailand further elaborated “After our experts verify the hotel’s carbon footprint, we will award hotels the relevant TÜV SÜD carbon-free certification. These certificates enable Thai hotels to show their commitment towards environmental sustainability and to brand themselves strategically as eco-hotels, enhancing their competition differentiation. TÜV SÜD’s experts can also help local Thai and international hotels identify operational efficiency opportunities, providing high degree of credibility to their reported environmental information. This will help guests differentiate the hotel as environment-friendly and enforce a positive corporate image.”

TÜV SÜD PSB also offers a wide range of customer-centric training and consulting programs for the hospitality and service sector, focused on driving customer service excellence from top management to frontline employees. The training provides them confidence to serve customers through identifying customer needs, applying effective communication techniques and implementing service behaviors that make an exceptional difference to customers. Beyond service excellence, TÜV SÜD PSB’s pool of multi-discipline experts also consult and train in topics such as Personal Excellence, Productivity, Quality, Environment, Health and Safety etc.
